Drayton Park’s Governing Body helps shape the school’s strategic direction and makes sure it is well-managed. Our goal is for the school to provide the best possible education to all its pupils, whatever their background, needs and abilities.

Drayton Park’s governors are volunteers from all sorts of different backgrounds and careers. Some of us have children at the school, and some of us have children who used to attend Drayton Park but are now at secondary school. And some of us don’t have children at the school but are motivated by our interest in education and desire to give back to the community. We also have a staff governor who help us understand the school from a staff point of view, as well as a governor who is appointed by Islington Local Authority. 

We do not get involved with the day to day running of the school - this is the responsibility of the Head Teacher and the Senior Leadership Team. But we do ensure that they are accountable for the decisions and actions taken, and that standards of achievement continue to improve. We are also responsible for ensuring that the school’s policies and administration meet statutory requirements and are up to date.
