Equalities

We have a responsibility, both legally and morally, to promote equality amongst pupils, staff and our wider community. Diversity is one of the defining characteristics of Drayton Park and we take our equalities duties very seriously. Our key aims are to:

  • Eliminate discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
  • Foster good relations across all characteristics - between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

The document below sets out how we achieve these aims and what our key Equalities Objectives are. We seek to be a culturally competent organisation and teach cultural competence to our children; meaning that we learn to live well in our diverse world. The school and Local Authority are committed to promoting anti-racist teaching, equal opportunities for boys and girls, as well as understanding of people who represent all protected characteristics under law. We know this will benefit our children. None of this is seen as an addition to our existing curriculum but is an integral part of it. Racist, sexist, anti-social or discriminatory behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated at our school.
